16321: NC - e-Filing the NCUI 101 (DAS)

North Carolina

Drake Accounting®: How do I create and file the NCUI 101?

For filing to the NC Division of Employment Security (NCDES), DAS can produce:

  • For paper-filing the form in PDF format, the NCUI 101, Employer's Quarterly Tax and Wage Report, and the NCUI 101-B, Continuation Sheet for Report Of Employees Wages when required.
  • For e-filing the form NCUI 101, a .txt file for upload of the data.

Note: In June 2013, NC mandated that the North Caroling NCUI 101-B, Continuation Sheet For Report Of Employees Wages, must be electronically uploaded if the employer has 25 or more employees.

See Related Links below for required setup before creating the state wage report.

To prepare the NCUI 101:

  • Select the Employees or On the Fly menu, then select State Tax & Wage Forms.
  • Make sure NC is selected, then select 101 from the Forms droplist.
  • Select the applicable quarter.
  • Review the form and make any necessary entries or edits.
  • Make sure the e-file checkbox is marked (if e-filing), then select Save/Print.

Save/Print creates the PDF of the NCUI 101 for paper-filing and/or record keeping purposes, as well as the .txt file for upload to the NCDES if e-file was selected.

Note: Because NC specifies an upload file name, UIWAGE.TXT, that is the same for every reporting quarter, each time the NCUI 101 is created and saved, the previous file is overwritten.

To upload the file:

  • Log in to NC Division of Employment Security.
  • Follow prompts to upload the file.
  • The NCUI 101 upload file can be found by browsing to the drive where DAS is installed > DrakeAccounting20YY > DAS20YYData (beginning in DAS2021) > Clients > client code > EFile > NC > NC101 and selecting the file named UIWAGE.TXT.

All acknowledgements in reference to the upload will come from the NCDES.
