Supreme Court To Hear Oral Arguments on Obamacare March 4, 2015
The United States Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) on March 4, 2015.
The case, formally known as David King et al versus Sylvia Burwell, Secretary of Health and Human Services et al, questions the legality of subsidies offered to help low- and middle-income people buy health insurance. Opponents argue that most of the subsidies are illegal unless provided by a state-run health exchange. The Obama administration claims the congressional intent of the law is for eligible customers, regardless of how they register, should receive assistance from the government to subsidize the purchase of health care.
A decision in the case will be made by next July.
