2012 Live Training - Get acquainted with Drake Software
by attending our summer training courses. Four courses introduce new clients to
Drake Software and refresh current users: Drake 101
teaches the basics of data entry, program setup and e-filing. Drake
Extras introduces Drake’s value-added features, including Drake Document
Manager, Drake e-mail, Tax Planner, reports, Client Status Manager and more. Beyond the Basics helps both new and experienced preparers
navigate some of the more complex screens in the 1040 return. Client
Write-Up introduces Drake's accounting, payroll, and accounts payable

Update Schools - From the basics of Drake Software to
what’s new for tax professionals, the Update Schools get you well prepared for the
upcoming tax season. The schools' instructors introduce and explain enhancements
to the software, changes in IRS laws and regulations, and the use of Drake's business
management tools to maximize productivity and business potential. CPE Details
Tax Courses:
- The
Basic
course consists of 12 study units and a final exam. It introduces new customers
to tax preparation, reviews IRS terminology and tax law, and demonstrates how Drake
data entry works with the tax law. Topics include filing status, dependents, exemptions,
standard deductions, income, Child and Dependent Care Credit, Earned Income Credit,
education credits and deductions, IRAs and Schedule C. There are no prerequisites
for this self-study (distance-learning) basic course. Four CPE credits are available
to those who complete the course and make the required grade on the exam. CPE Details
- The
Intermediate
course examines Schedules A, C, D, E and F more deeply, plus includes Clergy returns
and a more thorough look at depreciation. Four CPE credits are available to those
who complete the course and make the required grade on the exam. CPE Details
- The
Basic Corporate
course describes and explains the various parts of a corporate 1120 return and shows
the student how to use corporate "books" to complete an 1120 return in Drake Software.
The course includes an in-depth look at Schedule L, Assets and Liabilities (L-1
and L-2), Reconciliation of the Income Statement (M-1), Retained Earnings (M-2),
depreciation, and the use of Form 4562. There are no prerequisites for this self-study
basic course, and three CPE credits are available to those who complete the course
and make the required grade on the exam. CPE Details
- The
Basic S Corporation
course explains the various parts of a corporate 1120S return, including how an
S Corporation election is made and the characteristics of an S Corporation. The
course includes a detailed look at how the Schedule M-2 (a) Accumulated Adjustments
account, (b) Other Adjustments account, and (c) Shareholder’s undistributed taxable
income previously taxed amounts are entered. There are no prerequisites for this
self-study basic course, and three CPE credits are available to those who complete
the course and make the required grade on the exam. CPE Details

Basic Partnership
course describes and explains the various parts of a 1065 partnership return and
shows how to create and balance a partnership return in Drake Software. The course
describes the different types of partnerships, passive activity, entering data on
a K-1, exporting a K-1, and schedules L, M-1, and M-2. There are no prerequisites
for this self-study basic course, and two CPE credits are available to those who
complete the course and make the required grade on the exam. CPE Details

Drake Software is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy
(NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry
of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance
